East Malaysia claims the northern edge of the huge, wild island of Borneo. Malaysia offers a huge range of seaside relaxation running from luxurious total-comfort resorts to deserted away-from-it-all beaches. You must try and visit the Taman Negara National Park, which is one of the world's oldest rainforests. It is home to several endangered species and an abundance of exotic plants. On the northwest coast of the peninsula is the island of Langkawi, set on the Andaman Sea. In its myriad coves and inlets, beside palm-fringed golden sand beaches, Langkawi offers international-standard resort hotels and simple chalet accommodation. To work off the delicious food on offer there are water sports of all kinds, a fine golf course and of course duty-free shopping.
Kinabalu National Park features a high granite peak that you should climb if you would like a beautiful view of the spectacular surrounding rainforest. The Perhentian Islands are probably the most beautiful islands in Malaysia, they all have sparkling white-sand beaches and crystal-clear aquamarine water. hy not experience the Hooting Gibbons located in the magnificent rainforest of the Danum Valley. If it is temples you are after, visit Penang, the west coast's most interesting stopover.
